Jean, Nevada- Seven Magic Mountains provide a striking contrast to the Mojave Desert as you cruise on Interstate 15 towards Las Vegas. The 30-35 foot limestone rock towers were created by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone, and officially opened May 11, 2016. The day I visited presented 30-40 mile-per-hour gusts of wind, so I was happy there is an internal support system in place.
The installation is scheduled to be on display for two years in the area off the 15 (officially a part of Jean, Nevada). I have no idea what they plan to do with the colored rocks after the two years are up! If you plan to visit, you will need to either exit in Jean (to the south of the exhibit) or at the M Resort (to the north of the exhibit). You will take South Las Vegas Boulevard to the exhibit.
There is a dirt and gravel pull-out to park. You will need to walk approximately 100 yards to the artwork from the parking area. There are no services available at this stop.
This is just one of those really cool stops to make. Not only is the piece impressive, but it breaks up a long drive!!
What an odd thing to find in the desert. There are quite a few odd things in the deserts. I like the bright colors.
